That being said, the forward-thinking design of MB&F is apparent, most notably through the central balance-wheel that has been placed in the front of the watch, floating above the movement and the subdials. The very large, bespoke, 14 mm balance wheel, with four traditional regulating screws is striking, separating itself from the manual-winding, single mainspring barrel movement beneath. The unique architecture of the Legacy Machine No.1 is further emphasized through the high-domed sapphire crystal that has been coated with an anti-reflective material, creating a very real presence on the wrist. Adding to this, there is an highly-innovative, three-dimensional linear power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock.
The Legacy Machine No.1 features a dual-time zone complication. The two are completely independent of each another, with two dials and independent setting crowns at 4 and 8 o’clock, making it a highly-usable travel watch. Many travel watches or world timers cannot take into account half-hour time-zones for countries like India and parts of Australia, but with the independent times on the two dials, the Legacy Machine No.1 is able to. This MB&F has highly contrasted blued-gold hands, that allow for maximum legibility when reading the time.
This watch is the result of a collaboration between MB&F, the famed watchmaker Kari Voutilainen and Jean François Mojon. The latter's creative watchmaking company, Chronode, was responsible for the development of the Legacy Machine No.1’s movement. It has a power reserve of 45 hours and comes on a brand new, black alligator strap from MB&F, with matching white gold tang buckle.
